Think about what you say…

Just saw a middle schooler post this on Facebook:

I know this girl who lets boys push her around, shes really tall, not very pretty, but she needs to stand up for herself!”

and it honestly just disgusts me.

You can’t say something mean about someone and hide it behind concern. That doesn’t make you a good person, it makes you petty and mean.

When you say stuff like that about someone, that they’re not pretty, you lower their self esteem. When you have low self esteem you can’t stand up for yourself, because you feel that you’re not worth it.

Saying that someone isn’t pretty is inviting them into a life where they constantly feel that they’re not good enough and that’s why they let people push them around - because they think they deserve it.

Stop telling people they’re not pretty. Stop telling people they’re not good enough. That’s not your job to decide and it’s certainly not your job to judge.
