New York Mega Post
Okay so this might be kind of long but oh well.
So yesterday I went to NYC by myself on a bus at 6 AM not really expecting too much but was very pleased with the outcome.
I wanted to get rush tickets for H2$ but when I arrived at the theatre around 8:30 I knew that I had NO chance. People literally spent the night there, which to me is insane. There is NOBODY I want to see so badly that I’ll spend the night on the streets of NY in January. Sorry, but no.
Anyways I realized I had no chance so I decided my next best shot was one of the TKTS stands. There was two people in line behind me also discussing how long the line was and so since I was by myself we discussed it and I invited them to come with me to TKTS.
We went to the one in Times Square and figured out that most likely they weren’t even going to have any H2$ tickets. So I decided I would try to get tickets for Stick Fly because Dule Hill (Gus from Psych) is in it and it’s one of my favorite shows EVER. They decided to see either Godspell or Follies and we waited in line for a little over an hour until the stand opened.
So even though the tickets were 50% off, they were still going to charge me $72 for one ticket to Stick Fly so I shed a quick tear and said no thanks. My friends tickets were also going to be around $85 each so they decided against it as well. Somewhat defeated, we stopped at a McDonald’s for breakfast and to warm up a bit.
Afterwards we headed back to H2$ to see what was going on over there. We got in line to see if there were any tickets left on sale that we could afford (GOOD JOKE). Then these girls came out and sold their rush tickets at face value….. to the people behind us. :’( I mean, granted there were three of us and they only had two tickets but still, my heart broke.
After they announced that they only had $400 tickets left, we almost died at the price and then I said “why don’t you just spit on my face instead” RIGHT as the guy working there turned towards me…… so I shuffled on out of there quickly before things could get more awkward.
We headed to the Stick Fly theatre to see how many rush tickets they usually have because I thought I might get tickets for tomorrow. Well, long story short the show isn’t doing that well I suppose and they still had rush tickets for that day!!!
We decided to make the best of the situation and all bought tickets for the 2 PM performance and left happier than we had been before. Then we headed to the studio where Nick was practicing for H2$. Unfortunately he had just gone in about 40 minutes prior and stopped to meet and take pictures with EVERY fan who was waiting outside (about 40-50 people I think)…. very nice of him. So we didn’t get to meet him but that’s okay!
We left before he came out and went to see Stick Fly. The show was amazing. I laughed, I cried… it was great. Seriously, go see it! There were still $35 rush tickets available at around 12 the day of the show SO GO. It’s cheap and really great!
After the show we met the cast (including Joanne from the movie version of Rent and my love: Dule). So in the past two weeks Dule has tweeted me twice and RTed me once so when I met him I mentioned it and he remembered and started talking to me about it and how it was one of his favorite lines and he’d forgotten about it until I said something (I had tweeted a line from Psych). Then after he signed my playbill he started to walk away and I said “oh, can I get a picture.” and he said “Sure, Haley.” Well… here’s the thing. I NEVER TOLD HIM MY NAME. I SWEAR HE SAID MY NAME. And it’s in my twitter url and he had seen it 3 times in almost one week so it’s not impossible that he’d know it. The only other thing that could have sounded remotely close to my name is “lady” and who says “okay lady” to a 19 year old girl. So I maintain the fact that he said my name and nobody needs to burst my bubble :)

So, no flash…

And then when there was I was in the middle of talking -_______-
OH AND AT THIS POINT I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT I LOOK ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLY ATROCIOUS IN ALL THESE PICTURES AND I DON’T USUALLY LOOK LIKE THIS SO PLEASE JUST….. IGNORE IT.

Hahahaha ugh……

After we met everyone we headed back to H2$ to see people waiting outside for Darren, however he doesn’t come out for the matinees (except on Sunday since it’s the only show). So we left to get food and when we came back we were at the front of the barricade. Eventually my friends left because it was around 5 or so hours before Darren was set to come out.
And since I’d come alone and had ZERO plans, I decided to stay. I thought at the very least it’d be a story to tell.
I met Rachel (darrensbutt.tumblr.com and I still am laughing at her url……). I hope to one day be TUMBLR FAMOUS like her :p. So anyways I hung out with her and her mom for the long wait and we talked a lot which actually made the time pass fairly quickly.
Then the security guard gave us cake pops that someone got for Darren (Sorry to whoever did that cuz uh… we got a lot of them hahaha) Speaking of which, has anyone eaten theirs yet because I want to eat mine but idk if it’s poisoned… so yeah. (Oh and by the time I posted this I’d eaten the cake pop. Actually I took one bite, spit it out and threw the rest away. It tasted like shit.)

Anyways he finally came out and the security guards said he only had 5 minutes. He looked so rushed and wasn’t taking pictures with anyone. He literally ran up and down the sides of the barricades to sign things for people. My flash went off when he was near me and he blinked a little so I said “Oh, sorry if that was creepy! That flash was kind of close to your face…” and he was like “It’s fine, it’s fine” but when he said it he sounded super distracted. He seemed extremely flustered the whole time (Idk if security was rushing him or if he had somewhere to be or what) but he just seemed to be very rushed, flustered, maybe even frustrated… I can’t really pinpoint it but I felt really bad for him. Overall he just seemed tired.

I AM DYING LAUGHING AT HIS SIGNATURE. I know he was in a hurry but like…. what is that…….
When he did his little speech at the end of meeting people it was only about 10 seconds long and then he ran back inside. I’m dumb and can’t figure out how to encode the video but here it is: http://tinypic.com/r/28wjg3b/5
So it was kind of a bust because we couldn’t get pictures and he seemed like he was really in another world when he was signing, but it was definitely an experience so I’m glad I did it. And that’s it…..
Oh, Rachel… tell your mom it was an Ikea couch sectional and that’s why it had to be put together hahahahaha
If you’re here, thanks for reading this massive post!
